Curriculum
At Holland House School we expect and encourage every pupil to achieve their full potential and as such we provide a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum throughout the school. We have a rich and stimulating curriculum, with art, drama, music, dance, French, PE and IT all integral to the timetable.
We are a Prep School and very proud of the achievement of our pupils; our results at 11+ speak for themselves. Maths and English are prioritised as we firmly believe that these form the strong foundations upon which the rest of the curriculum is built: Humanities, Sciences and the Arts – Children flourish in these subjects when they have a solid grounding in the key areas of Maths and English.
The School enjoys the highest academic standards and learning takes place in a family environment where every child is known individually by the Staff. In this environment, our pupils consistently exceed national benchmarks in core subjects. We support all learners, high achievers, those with particular talents and those who need a little more time. The difference lies in engaging each pupil, developing enquiring minds and confidence, helping them to make connections between prior knowledge and new information and experiences.
While academic performance matters, it is the personal development that often stays with a child for life and this where Holland House really uses its compact size as an advantage. When you visit us, you are just as likely to see calm classrooms where children are studiously getting on with their work as you are to find passionate debating and avid discussions. As you walk around the site, you may well hear the laughter of children delighting in their studies or enjoying the company of their friends; your ears may pick-up the notes of a heartfelt melody from one of our many musicians or perhaps the clicking of tap shoes from the hall! You will see fabulous pieces of student artwork exhibited in our corridors, many of which have won regional and national awards, alongside examples of beautiful handwriting, gripping compositions and eye-catching project work.
Daily routines reinforce values like courtesy, respect, and self-control. Classrooms are calm, structured, and encouraging. There is space for quiet pupils to be heard, and for lively ones to find focus. In this environment, confidence grows in a timely manner.
