During our exciting trip to Forest School, the children got to explore the woods and discover so many amazing things about nature. They started by learning about some of the hazards in the woods, like nettles, and they found out that there are tall green plants with jagged leaves and little hairs that can sting you. However, they are also important because they help butterflies and insects survive. Next, the children played a flower and butterfly identification game, which helped them learn the names of some of the beautiful plants and creatures around them. They learnt how trees, flowers and plants all work together to help animals and keep the forest healthy. Later, they had the opportunity to use magnifying glasses to go on a bug hunt and saw tiny insects they had never noticed before.
In the afternoon, the children listened to a story about binoculars and telescopes and how they help us see things far away, and then they got to make their own pair of binoculars to use in the woods. It was so much fun walking through the forest with them, trying to spot the hidden animal toys. While exploring, they discovered trails to new areas of the woods and split into smaller groups to play games about animal habitats. They even looked for holes in the ground and imagined which animals might be living inside.
To end the day, we all gathered around a cosy campfire and sang songs together. It was the perfect way to finish our magical day at Forest School.
